Erasmus MC is an internationally recognized center for high-quality, compassionate care, highly rated transfer of knowledge and high-quality knowledge development in the fields of illness and health. As the largest medical center in The Netherlands, among the 15,000 employees, 2000 scientists work on understanding the origin and progression of disease to improve our health.

Erasmus MC received the European Commission’s award of HR Excellence in Research; recognising progress made in supporting researchers and the on-going commitment to the principles of the European Charter and Code for Researchers.

The prostate cancer research is embedded in the Erasmus MC Academic Center ‘Urogenital Tumors’, which consists of scientists and clinicians from the departments of Urology, Pathology, Radiotherapy, Nuclear Medicine, Molecular Genetics, Clinical Chemistry and Medical Oncology. The Academic Center integrates the different efforts performed at the different departments on all aspects of prostate, bladder and testicular cancer research.

The ESR will be a member of the Experimental Urology Laboratory which is focused on prostate cancer research with a team of 25 scientists. The lab is a fully equipped molecular and cellular biology laboratory with facilities for ML1 and ML2 cell culture/viral transduction labs, cell sorting, bacterial/phage labs and more. Core infrastructure supported by the Erasmus MC  for sequencing and proteomics (Center for Biomics), confocal imaging (Optical Imaging Center [OIC] and screening facility [CTSF]), animal housing facility (EDC), animal imaging facility (AIF), bioinformatics (CCBC) are present.
